To scratch the surface of D.C. is to reveal a city that isn't just about politics, but one that also steeped in history and culture. In a way it feels like it is a place where the past, the present and the future converge. There is so much to take in and learn during a visit here: from the expansive collections of history, art and artifact, to the heart wrenching memorials for all those who have lost their lives during times of war... From the rich and diverse food culture present across the city, to the historic buildings of Georgetown... There aren't too many places in the world where you can enjoy an authentic Laotian lunch after visiting the American Indian Museum, then take in an exhibition about the art of the Qur'an, all while on your way to a one-on-one discussion of current topics with your congressperson.
