Christa Lopez and Vasiliki Sgourdou (both graduate students majoring in communication arts) decided traveling to Cuba for their Edward Guiliano Global Fellowship was the perfect opportunity for the budding journalists to test their talents.

Because of the recent thaw in U.S.-Cuba relations, Lopez and Sgourdou felt the influx of Americans would soon transform the island’s original identity and that this was the perfect time to visit.

Their goal was simple: To grasp the feelings of the Cuban people in photos and words, to get their side of the story, and to let them show what Cuba is really all about. Read more about their trip on the Box. NYIT.EDU/box #NYIT #nyitdidthat #bearsabroad
