- oursyracuseuBeing a part of a small community can make this campus feel so much more personal. Throughout high school, I loved participating in every activity I could possibly fit into my schedule. Coming to SU, I had to choose just a few and I was lucky to find OrangeSeeds. OrangeSeeds is a first-year leadership empowerment program that helps freshman and transfer students find their place on campus and allows them the opportunity to grow into leaders on campus. Throughout the first semester, we participate in weekly community service throughout the City of Syracuse, giving us the opportunity to get off the Hill. Second semester, the first-year class plans the largest day of community service on SU campus, known as the "Big Event." I was lucky enough to be selected to a seed class of 26 first-year students my freshman year and have served on the Executive Board the past two years. OrangeSeeds has given me a community of like-minded individuals who care about their community in the same way I do. Being surrounded by such motivated individuals allowed me to find a family away from home and create lasting relationships at Syracuse. -Julia Arsenault '17 #SyracuseU
