- oursyracuseuGood evening friends! For my last post, I wanted to share my experience working as a Resident Advisor. When I originally applied, I had no idea what I was getting into. I knew that for me to earn free room and board, that the job would be exhausting- and it certainly is. What I didn't realize though was how much I would enjoy it. I live with 36 freshmen, and serve as a strange combination of a parent, academic advisor, babysitter, cheerleader, and friend. We do lots of things together, whether that be just eating dinner or chatting, or some more interesting things like touring the SU Art Gallery or painting pumpkins this past October. Although sometimes I lack some privacy and freedom, the pros of my job far outweigh the cons. I've loved being an RA so much that I've applied for another higher position- a Mentor Resident Advisor- for this coming year. Of all the things I've done with my residents though, the best was getting to give them a tour of campus during their first week. 😊
Thanks so much for reading- and consider applying to become a tour guide! @syracuseu100 is full of incredible people and I've made once in a lifetime memories!
