My theme lately is strength and grace. It's the definition of the Ashtanga Advanced A (3rd) series: Sthira Bhaga. This is the 5th pose in the series and it wasn't until I did it at least 4 times per week for 9 months that I have begun to feel what's on the other side of surrender. You can look at someone else doing a yoga asana or you can imagine yourself doing it in your mind, or you can attempt it with struggle and challenge and tell yourself you're doing it. But it's not until you actually have surrendered that you truly feel the strength and grace. Without that feminine aspect, it's all masculine (same with receiving/doing). And the only reason I do this practice is so that I can take this theme into my life--emotionally, spiritually--off the mat. (Bhairavasana) #integrativehealth #ashtangayoga #thirdseries #surrender
