malmostudentAfter a month, now it's time for me to say "namárië"..this day also marks the "twelfthy-fifth" birthday of J.R.R Tolkien! I'm so happy to be in charge of this account for the last month of 2016 and the first days of 2017 and I want to thank Amanda for letting me have this account until today.
Here's a fan/fun fact for you. When The Lord of the Rings was first translated into Swedish, Tolkien hated the translation a lot. He called the translator Åke Ohlmarks "conceited and less competent" than the Dutch translator who Tolkien genuinely despised! Ohlmarks' translation was very bad and sometimes inconsistent within the same book. In 2005, Erik Andersson translated it again, so now there are two versions (both can be found in Orkanen library). As you can see the poem is different in two versions and it's not "the whitest tree you may see" (pictured below), but "the white tree". Besides, the books are named differently, Ohlmarks' translation is called "Härskarringen" or "Sagan om ringen", whereas Eriksson's "Ringarnas Herre". | Akke @kiwi_son
