{NEW VIDEO - Link in profile} The other night, we were driving home from picking up our new drone when there was a dead turkey on the side of the road. It looked as it it were hit by a car, fresh and in-tact, so we took it home to see if we could salvage any of the meat. In this video, we'll share some thoughts on the scary idea of picking up roadkill and harvesting the meat. And Happy New Year's Eve everyone... have fun and stay safe! #selfsufficient #selfsufficiency #selfsustaining #selfsustainable #freefood #offgrid #offgridliving #offgridlife #homestead #homesteading #homesteadlife

  • whereintheuniverse619Brave post my Instagram friends. And a good one.
  • simpleman_steveRoad Kill ... Happy New Year! 🤔 jk enjoy your New Year's Eve!!
  • hanstagAround here it's usually pretty safe since it's so cold out; as long as nothing has gotten to it yet! Some friends of ours are on a list that law enforcement calls when road kill is called it! They never buy meat!
  • purelivingforlife@hanstag Who knew such a list even existed?!? Excellent idea!
  • chinanorthairgunsI pick up deer on a regular basis. Road kill can be good eats.
  • kingpiranhaFYI totally illegal in Washington state. Only deer and elk can be salvaged as roadkill. Fish and wildlife police will prosecute for this.
  • wintersteelforgeBe careful with game animals. There are actual laws for this stuff. Not being judgmental just trying to be informative.
  • freeganicfarmingWe have done the same. Found someone's bourbon red turkey dead in the rd, fresh still. Fed it to the dog (who eat a raw meat diet already). Ive fed them lots of roadkill over the years.
  • maginashunSounds interesting. We will definitely check that video out.
  • jchabbsBallsy. I love it !!
  • vwilson53001Mm roadkill stew...we do the same thing but only fresh, unquestionable kills. A great way to feed your family when you don't have much to begin with.
  • fourbroomsticksYou guys are the real deal! I wouldn't know where to begin!
  • purelivingforlife@kingpiranha Good to know since we venture into WA on occasion. There ARE illegal species to collect in ID but wild turkeys aren't one of them.
  • kingpiranha@purelivingforlife oh I thought you guys were in wa? Didn't realize you were in Idaho
  • norwoodzomboyEver heard of "The Roadkill Cookbook?" - it's not an urban myth, I special ordered it for customers when I worked in the book trade!
  • chinanorthairgunsIn this part of Canada, we just fill out a web form and we get a tag by email instantly.
  • alphaprecisionmachiningNice drone ;) will be getting a Mavic Pro myself
  • mm6fire66@purelivingforlife love your videos. Question, is Alyssa's Carhartt stocking hat brown or a wine / purple color? The wife and I can't figure it out.
  • joel77055I just watched your chicken video, I LIKED your video, and went to your INSTAGRAM page and became your 8200th follower, yay me
