The past month has seen #ScottBase packed to capacity, supporting some incredible research. One example is group of scientists mainly from @vicuniwgtn and GNS Science who are using a state-of-the-art drilling system to core #frozen sediments that were originally deposited by glaciers in the Friis Hills in the Transantarctic Mountains. 
These glacial sediments contain climate clues from a period in Earth’s past when atmospheric CO2 concentrations were similar to those predicted for the coming decades and average surface temperature was 3-4oC warmer than today. These geological records provide insight into possible future response of #Antarctica’s ice sheets and glaciers to current #climatechange
