#WorldToiletDay is a day to raise awareness and inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis – a topic often neglected and shrouded in taboos.
It is estimated that ~600 million people in India defecate in the open for lack of access to a toilet. We at the Swades Foundation are committed to building 25,000 household toilets in rural India, and so far have built over 10,400 household toilets + water & sanitation facilities in 56 schools. We believe that every household should have access to a toilet; the community plays an integral role (alongside our donors and the government) in our collaborative approach to empower rural India. #ToiletsForAll
