"Rolling onto his knees, Jadrien clasped his hands to his heart. 'Oh, Pearl, jewel of my heart, light in my darkness, grace me with your nearness so I might feast upon your loveliness.'
Pearl laughed, even as she admired his silhouette. His silk shirt rippled in the night breeze. 'I want to feast on mint chocolate chip. Or maybe Chunky Monkey.'
'You can taste the difference?'
'Mint chocolate chip, sharp and clean like an ocean breeze. Black raspberry, rich and smooth as a summer night. Bubble-gum ice cream...' She faked a shudder. 'Oh, the horror, the horror.'"

Teenage vampire, food-infused blood, and were-unicorns?? Haha, I love #SarahBethDurst's Drink, Slay, Love. It was the first of her books I read years ago, and I totally fell in love with her writing. If you are—or aren't—into YA vampire books, this one's for you. 😉
.
Did you know #DrinkSlayLove is being made into a TV movie and will premiere in Jan. '17 on @Lifetimetv? I'm so excited! I mean, I'm pretty sure I'll still love the book more, but it'll be fun to see a visual adaptation of it. And I'm curious to see if they keep the ice cream scenes in. It's kind of a big deal (not just because I'm a foodie, but to the actual plot of the story).
.
A couple of years ago I concocted a mint chocolate chip ice cream blood milkshake to mirror the cover of the book. You can find the recipe on my blog under the "Banquet of Books" tab. 😊📖🍴🍷

The mint chocolate chip popsicle shown is from @yasso and is made with Greek yogurt. It's really delicious! I was originally going to do a little bowl of ice cream, but saw these popsicles and was curious to try them, also, imagining a popsicle with bloody fang marks was a pretty cool image in my mind. 😉 Each popsicle comes in a plastic sleeve with a different saying on it. This one's said "Time heals all wounds, but dessert heals it faster." I think Pearl the vampire would agree.
