Often times our clients will want to rely heavily on arm musculature to "curl" their way up. This is highly inefficient!
A proper pull-up starts with scapular depression. In other words the shoulder blade needs to be pulled down.
This can be a tough motion to learn at first.
I have demonstrated a few techniques to help teach low trap activation/scapular depression.
The first can be done with cables or bands, and then progressed to bilateral depressions. Hanging scap depressions help train the initial movement of a proper pull-up. ---------
