"Joining School of Thought in 2004 exposed me to objective, critical thinking with regard to global issues. It made education in Singapore fun for me for the first time (a real feat), as students were responsible for driving discussion and learning through our views and questions, rather than through the typical force-fed ways of our education system. It made me more aware of both sides of the argument in every situation, of certain communities and issues in the world that may not always be mentioned, as well as of the reasons for our current social, political, financial, healthcare and warfare problems.
SOT flowered my desire to effect positive change on the world beyond the corporate realm, shaping my career and recreational choices. I joined the Ministry of Trade & Industry as a bilateral trade officer in my first job, navigating the geo-political landscape and advancing Singapore’s economic relations in South East Asia. I am now working in Singapore International Foundation, managing the Young Social Entrepreneur’s programme to inspire more changemakers. I also DJ and produce music of higher consciousness in my free time." Foo Sek Sheng, Assistant Manager, Good Business, Programmes Division, Singapore International Foundation.
