Bodies Of Fallen KDF Soldiers Arrive, As Rescue Mission continues

Terror group Al-Shabaab, on Friday used a car bomb at the entrance of the KDF Somali base to launch a deadly attack that left dozens of KDF soldiers dead and others injured. Quoting Al-Shabaab forces, BBC reported that 60 Kenyan troops were killed, while other sources indicated the death toll could be higher.

A search, rescue and recovery operation for officers taken hostage is ongoing, according to Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo, as the first batch of bodies of Kenya Defence Force soldiers killed in Somalia were received into the country.

Yesterday at 10 p.m four caskets covered with Kenyan flags were received by the Cabinet Secretary and other military officers at Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. Two chaplains and an Imam prayed before the bodies were carried away in ambulances.
