Seems like every photographer on the field shooting Sunday’s #nfcchampionship game between the #packers and #49ers made a nice frame of this second quarter play of Allen Lazard being tackled by Richard Sherman, Emmanuel Moseley, and Jimmie Ward. I shot it too. Not from the field, but from overhead. Not with an iPhone, but with a real camera. I never post what I call “real” pictures here on Instagram but I like this and I am bored so here it is. What’s important to me is I started shooting big games from the “up” decades ago for @sifullframe and @sportsillustrated when @stevefine was in charge and had the vision of what it took for a team of photographers to cover a game. I had the honor of shooting Sunday’s game for @marguerite_schropp at SI and she had the insight to continue the tradition of having someone shoot the “up” and I am thrilled it was me. I was working with the incredible legend John W. McDonough. With McD on the field there is no reason for me to try and do the same thing. Together John and I had a blast and got a few pictures we like. Thanks to the few great picture editors out there who really care, especially everyone who taught me so well at SI since 1992. You all know who you are. #notaniphone #si #oldschool #thankssteve #thanksmarguerite #thanksmo #thanksnate #thanksvj
