Bandeja paisa, a typical Colombian dish from the Paisa region served on a platter (bandeja). Starting clockwise from the banana (which is actually a fried plantain or "little banana), we have a fried egg on top of a pile of rice, avocado, chorizo (pork sausage), salad, an arepa (which I talked about earlier), minced meat, and finally chicharrón (deep fried pig skin) on top of red beans. The plate wasn't even big enough to display everything... I've already had this dish a few times, but each time something was off. The plate was the wrong kind, it was too dark, or it just didn't look appetizing. Today I decided to splurge and went to a nicer restaurant and ordered it for lunch, just to get the picture I wanted.
