wolfbrigadegymHeather, Jen. Learning.
We look at participation in a quality-driven strength & conditioning class as somewhat similar to sparring in martial arts.
Being of that mindset, we do not take drop-ins, and we require even experienced athletes to move through our "Curriculum priorities" list prior to training with the group;
Unless the gym is a joke, or the participant is a legendary asshole, no one spars on their first day of martial arts class.
We learn as much as we teach in the introductory process, and it is helpful to all to review and overhaul details before applying them "live". One thing that we know for sure is that a live group class is never, ever the best time to learn about a movement problem, positional deficiency, or other limiting factor in an athlete.
We're well-aware that we're selling a high-attention-span product in a low-attention-span market, but that has absolutely no chance of changing how we approach what we do.
We would rather close the doors with quality and integrity intact than offer a substandard product for even one fucking minute.
Fear of failure takes many forms; our version of success has nothing to do with simply keeping the doors open at all costs.
