Oh aren't you lovely. It took two hundred years to build this beauty, following the 1693 eathquake which destroyed Catania. Completed in the late 19th century, its named after local born composer Vincenzo Bellini . FYI they love Bellini here

Further wine education at 'Contrade del Etna', a huge trade fair showcasing wines from all over the mountains. Basically stalking people like this and copying what they do.

So cavallo (🐴) is extremely popular in Catania. Here it is in many Sicilian iterations - wrapped, rolled and flattened. It's delightful and also apparently (according to the Italians) high in iron and low in fat. Bring on desert 💪
Phallic fun and some very excited male members at Bar Turisi in the tiny hilltop community of Castelmola. Massimo tells me it reflects the more liberal corner of the peninsular, and since 1947 it has served as a reminder of the once lax and liberal artists who congregated here in the mid- 19th century. Almond wine (right) is a specialty here (and also apparently an aphrodisiac)
