Meet some of the high school students from our Broad Summer Scholars Program (#BSSP). Here, Amidat, Sanjana, Taylor, and Michelle (from left to right) are participating in a basic wet lab skills training session during their second day at Broad. The goal of the training is to teach students lab skills that they will most likely be using in their research projects this summer. At this point they are holding their protocol paperwork, and are about to start pipetting in order to digest lambda DNA with 3 restriction enzymes. (That's a lot to digest on Day 2!) #summerinternship #STEM #biology
On a team-building excursion to #ThompsonIsland, summer students from #BSRP participate in a ladder challenge designed to promote teamwork and communication. Students had to work together to help those who were climbing get to the top by providing support, advice, and encouragement. #STEM #summerinternship

Several Broadies, friends and family gathered under the Out@Broad banner for today’s #BostonPrideParade. Out@Broad is a group for #LGBTQ employees and their allies. It seeks to ensure an inclusive, affirming, and accepting environment for LGBTQ employees at the Broad Institute; identify challenges to, and lead the advancement of, members of the LGBTQ community in #STEM fields; engage with external organizations to promote equality; and to collaborate with others at Broad to promote a genuine, shared culture of #diversity and #inclusion. #BostonPride

Broad Summer Research Program (#BSRP) students have arrived! For the next nine weeks, they’ll be working in labs at the Broad Institute, performing original research in Broad labs under the guidance of mentors, attending meetings and talks, polishing their scientific communication skills, and presenting their research at an end-of-summer poster session. They spent their first week getting to know their way around the institute, and exploring Cambridge. Here is a group at Honeycomb creamery. #STEM #summerinternship
Each summer, about a dozen undergraduates from across the nation come to Broad for nine weeks of science and discovery at the Broad Summer Research Program (#BSRP), hosted by the institute's Office of Diversity, Education, and Outreach. Our new cohort arrived on Monday! Here’s a group returning to the dorm after a day of work at the institute. 139 of Broad’s Staff Scientists traveled to Thompson Island in Boston Harbor for the inaugural Broad Staff Scientist Retreat last week. The event was organized by the Broad Staff Scientist Development Committee to promote collaboration, communication, and career development among non-faculty scientists from across the institute’s programs and platforms. It’s New England, so we take advantage of pleasant weather when we can get it. Once the sun came out, some of the poster presenters at last week's Broad Staff Scientist Retreat moved their posters outside. Last Friday, a literal boatload of staff scientists left the city behind and journeyed to #ThompsonIsland in #BostonHarbor for the inaugural Broad Staff Scientist Retreat.
